Where VoIP International is the better fit

No phone system is right for every business. Here is where buyers consistently choose us over Ooma.

You need CRM integrations without paying the top-tier premium

Direct integrations with AppFolio, Buildium, Rent Manager, Clio, Follow Up Boss, GoHighLevel, ServiceTitan, Jobber, and Housecall Pro are included with our phone service. Ooma reserves CRM integrations for Pro Plus at $29.95/user/month. For a 10-user team that needs CRM integration, that is a $360/year difference (Ooma Pro Plus vs Ooma Essentials) just to unlock the integration.

Your team needs business mobile lines

Pro Mobile gives every employee a real business cellular line on their personal phone via eSIM. Ooma offers a mobile app for placing calls from a smartphone, but not a separate cellular line in the same product category. For field workers, sales reps, and remote employees, Pro Mobile is a different solution.

You want an AI Receptionist

Our AI Receptionist tiers ($99/$199/$299 per month flat) handle calls 24/7, route inbound calls intelligently, take messages, and book appointments. Ooma does not currently offer an AI receptionist product. If after-hours coverage or overflow handling matters for your business, the gap is significant.

Your team sends meaningful volumes of business SMS

Ooma Pro Plus caps SMS at 1,000 messages per month account-wide — that is total messages, not per user. For a 10-user team, that is 100 messages per user per month. Our phone service includes business SMS on a reasonable-use basis without published caps. For teams texting customers regularly, the cap difference compounds.

You need HIPAA-aligned configuration with a signed BAA

Our HIPAA add-on ($49/month) provides BAA-signed configuration for healthcare and wellness practices. Ooma does not formally market a HIPAA-compliant product line. If you operate in a regulated vertical, this is a structural fit difference.

Common questions about switching from Ooma

Honest answers about migration, contract obligations, and the practical questions buyers raise most often.

How does VoIP International's pricing actually compare to Ooma Office?

Ooma Essentials at $19.95/user/month is genuinely cheaper than our $32/user/month all-inclusive plan on the base rate. But Essentials excludes text messaging, video conferencing, call recording, the desktop app, and CRM integrations — features many businesses consider table stakes. The honest comparison is our $32 plan against Ooma Pro Plus at $29.95 (which includes those features); on those terms we are $2/user/month more, and we include more (CRM integrations across more platforms, AI Receptionist option, Pro Mobile option, HIPAA-aligned configuration).

Does Ooma offer something equivalent to Pro Mobile?

Not as a comparable product as of May 2026. Ooma has a mobile app (and the consumer Ooma Telo for residential use) but does not offer a business cellular line product in the Pro Mobile category — a company-owned eSIM line on an employee's personal phone. Pro Mobile is a different product class than mobile-app softphones.

What does it cost to migrate from Ooma to VoIP International?

Number porting at $15 per number is the main cost — Ooma offers complimentary porting, so the cost is on our side. Most teams complete the port over 5-10 business days. There is no setup fee or implementation charge.

Ooma's Essentials plan is significantly cheaper. Why would I pay more?

If you genuinely need only basic voice service — no texting, no video, no desktop app, no call recording, no CRM integration — Ooma Essentials may be the right fit. The comparison shifts when you need features that Essentials excludes. For a team that texts customers, holds video meetings, or uses CRM integration, you move to Ooma Pro or Pro Plus, and the price gap narrows substantially. Compare our $32 plan against Ooma Pro Plus at $29.95 for the apples-to-apples view.

How do we handle existing Ooma hardware if we switch?

Most modern SIP-compatible desk phones work with our service. Ooma has shipped a variety of hardware over the years; some Ooma-supplied devices are locked to the Ooma platform and would need to be replaced. We officially support and carry Yealink phones. During evaluation, send us the model numbers of your current hardware and we will tell you which ones can be reprovisioned to our platform.

Is Ooma HIPAA-compliant?

Ooma does not formally market a HIPAA-compliant product line as far as we have seen. We offer a HIPAA add-on at $49/month with a signed Business Associate Agreement for healthcare and wellness practices. If HIPAA compliance is a requirement for your operation, this is a structural difference between the two providers.
